Do I or don’t I? Wax on, wax off? To Brazilian or not…to Brazilian? These are the questions I asked myself before placing the call. That’s right, I made an appointment.
This. Is. Momentous.
Why after thirty odd years of living have I decided I need to go to a salon and have some stranger peek at my privates right before they torture me? In a word, Jamaica.
That’s right, I’m heading to Jamaica in November for six days and five nights of fun in the sun. Beach front room with a butler who will follow me around delivering drinks and food as needed.

What you may not know is that I have been busting my hump for months to loose weight in general, and now that we booked this vacation I’ve been working even harder. I have lost 20lbs and look the best I’ve looked in almost two years. I had a lot of health issues that kept me sedentary and resulted in weight gain on top of my already overweight state.
That said, with the weight loss and a trip coming up, bikini shopping was REQUIRED! So, I bought a cute set of two tops and one bottoms. Then I came home to two suits my hubby came across while shopping and so he grabbed them for me. Needless to say, I am well equipped as long as I keep losing weight.
I already feel sexier and more attractive which has its benefits. *waggles eye brows* That said, the Jamaica trip is special since it is for our anniversary…that’s right 12 years. We are beating the national average. Heh. But with a trip to Jamaica, a changed body, and some new bikinis I realized some serious grooming was required. And damn it, I hate shaving. Wax!
Now granted, two years ago I read K.C.’s post at Smokin’ Hot Books about getting waxed and, well I won’t lie. It has me scared. Terrified really. I mean who wouldn’t be after reading:
I’ve completely jack-knifed to a sitting position and am panting after yelling out ‘Jesus Christ on a crutch’.
I mean. Really? I hope this is not what I signed up for. However, the idea of not having to shave my lady bits while on vacay is so alluring that I have in fact scheduled an appointment. So, I promise to report back on my experience and let you know if I feel as sexy after as I hope.
In the mean time, feel free to bolster my courage with some positive experiences of waxing, or you could make me laugh with other kinds of waxing stories.
It’s really not all that bad if your technician has the touch. (If you are going for the full Brazilian, the delicate places can be a tad painful. ouch!) That said, I bit the bullet this year and opted for laser. No more shaving or waxing…EVER! Can I get an amen?
I actually like the look of the Brazilian. It’s not as bad as long as you go to a good salon.
Thanks Kitt and Debbie, you give me hope that it will be bearable and that I will not strike out and try to pummel the poor technician. LOL!
