Before I make with the sexy cowboys, I would like to take a moment to wish two of our ladies well. Kharisma Rhayne and A. Catherine Noon have decided that they need to depart Silken Sheets and Seduction. We are sorry to see them go, but understand that we all juggle time management, and sometimes something’s just gotta give.  We wish them continued success.

Now on to the cowboys! I am sure you have all read or heard of Lorelei James’ Rough Rider series. (If you haven’t, click the link and welcome to cowboy heaven!) Single handed, she made me fall in love with cowboys. As a result, I have tried my hand at writing my very own sexy cowboy story. It is only 8,000 words long, so I am probably just going to self publish it in the near future.

It is currently titled, Taking Her Chance (One Night with a Cowboy)

Elizabeth Torrence spent the last nine years establishing her career and then building her advertising business from the ground up. The problem is to do that she had to walk away from the one man who could have been the one.

Chance Rogers, a star bull rider on the pro circuit had met the girl he wanted to marry back when he was scampering to rodeos between classes at the University of Texas. After only one date she refused to see him again. One failed marriage later, he is finally ready to try again. So he turns to a dating service to help him get back in to the swing of things.

When Chance walks into the room at the Golden Mustang Dude Ranch, Beth is determined that history will not repeat itself. Not hers and not her mother’s. But will she take her Chance or lose him again?

Now I give you my top ten things I like about cowboys:

1. They always have rope handy!
2. They often smell like outdoors, man, sweat, and leather.
3. They love animals, especially their horses.
4. They always have rope handy!
5. Cowboy hats are sexy.
6. Their often plain talkers.
7. They’re polite. Yes ma’am and no ma’am. *sigh*
8. Tight jeans. (I really think that says it all.)
9. Muscles. They work hard which makes their bodies hard. Yum!
10. They always have rope handy!

What? So I might have an itsy bitsy teeny weeny fantasy about a sexy cowboy tying me up and having his way with me. LOL! I mean how is that not hot? So, tell me, what do you love about a cowboy?

Writing the Romance Way

Writing is never easy. Honest. For all those stories that come to you faster than you can write them, you have the others that you fight and struggle with characters at every turn. Sometimes, you even have this entire idea in your head – the perfect book. Then you start writing it and (honest) the characters decide to go another way. Then if already contracted and blurbed, you have to redo the blurb and contact your publisher about some uncooperative characters. Of course there’s also all those nagging ideas that demand to be written while you have ten other works in progress (WIPs). So there’s constantly a post it note or some other notebook or scrap of paper with an idea on it.

And then there’s edits. (Yes, this gets and completely deserves it’s own paragraph.)

As a writer, I get ideas from different things. A series I have a couple books out in was based on the concept that I love vampires. However, I haven’t read a book or watched a movie that had my idea of what a vampire was in it. So, I started writing my own. This way, I get exactly the vampire I want.

Often a picture can do the same thing. They do say a picture is worth a thousand words. I imagine that’s why there’s all the short flash fiction stories written each week. they’re easy, not too detailed and you get the short quick story with an image that matches it.

Each person creates a completely different concept of an image. So, often the stories are so different. That’s one of my appeals with it. I find it truly amazing what the same item placed in different hands can do with different minds involved.

Because of that, today (and over the next few months) I want to get YOUR mind involved. That’s right. You. The one on the other side of the screen reading this Silken Sheets & Seduction post. As i mentioned, we can all take one image, once sentence and so on…and get a completely different idea with it.

So, you tell me. I want you to give me a line or two or a plot idea. Then, on my next post here, I’ll start an ongoing serial story based on YOUR suggestions. I’ll try my best to go around and grab a suggestion from everyone who replies as the weeks go on. So, you can help me write a special story just for the readers of Silken Sheets & Seduction.

Welcome to another “what is sexy” installment. As I’m sure you can tell from reading, sexy is so different for each person you ask. I hope this isn’t your first visit and that you’ll be making many more. I’ll be seducing you here every other Monday. Sexy. To me, sexy is what you are. I don’t think it’s something anyone can learn. You either are or you aren’t. Luckily, everyone has a different definition of what sexy is. Everyone is sexy to someone.

Sexy takes a variety of forms. I love men. I love men with long hair, although I’m not opposed to short hair either. Seeing that I’m a very visual person, I love abs, muscular builds and intense eyes. A nicely filled out pair of jeans on a man will also get my head turning and my mind wandering. I love the animalistic instinct men can get. The more they show me they are a man, the more I want to be a woman. I love a bad boy, tattoos and piercings; the man that’s not afraid to throw the first punch. He’ll be the one to just do something rather than talking about it. It’s all about showing me.

Never one to limit my men, I love men with other men. Hot. Sexy.  It captures such a different essence of being. The love, the trust, the knowledge of knowing their partner. As a woman I can be with a man for years, but I’ll never truly know him the way another man would. I even find three men together beautiful. They seem to share such a wonderful bond. They can be best friends and partners.

Sexy is also an attitude. I love confidence–borderline arrogance. I love a man that knows exactly what he wants and has the confidence to get it. The man that knows he’s the “it” that fits. The man that will let me stare, show off a little for me and let me watch. Then, approach me and not take no for an answer, then show me even more.

Experimentation is sexy. Trust is sexy. Allowing for those moments where you may be out of your own comfort zone and trying something you aren’t sure about simply because your partner wants to. This can be in something as simple as food or as personal as in the bedroom. Complete trust and handing over that control (which can be difficult) is sexy, to me, in a way that I almost can’t describe. The sexy may even come more in that trust than in the actual experimentation.

I like no limitations on sexy. The sight of a beautiful woman is sexy. It’s in the confidence of her walk, the flip of her hair. To me, it doesn’t matter if she prefers men or women. The comfort she has with herself makes her sexy.

Take it from me — Don’t limit your sexy.
