Please welcome Grace Teague. She’s one of the five wonderful writers behind One Lucky Night. If you haven’t got a copy of it yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
I never thought what was going on in my real life would have a direct impact on my fiction. Usually I write about feelings and perceptions that I’ve had time to process, but right now I’m at this low point in the way I look and the way I feel. When tasked with writing a sexy post to promote the new anthology I’m part of, I wasn’t sure I could put out.
Less than a month ago, I had my second child and her birth has has nearly coincided with the release One Lucky Night.
One Lucky Night is a series of five interwoven stories that take place on one snowy night in a Boston pub. The stories include contributions from Aria Kane, myself, Ana Blaze, Constance Phillips and Melinda Dozier.
Writing about sex is so far from my mind right now. My stitches are still healing, my breasts are being mauled eight times a day by my newborn, I’m stealing sleep in three hour intervals and my spouse and I are using the bed in shifts.
Someday I’ll probably fantasize about icing my nipples in a fun way instead of for utilitarian reasons, but today is not that day.
On the bright side, I wrote my contribution to the anthology, “Lucky Star,” months ago. It’s got a sex scene that establishes the tenderness, adventurousness and heat of new love. Here’s a taste:
He took her shirt off the rest of the way. She was grateful that her bra was pretty, red satin, even though he had it off before her top hit the floor. Her nipples puckered under his thumbs. He got on his knees in front of her and took down her tights, but left her panties and the skirt.
“Sit down,” he said.
She nodded yes, but didn’t move. Seeing him supplicated between her legs had caused the rest of her brain to shut off.
He held onto her hips and guided her into position on the bed, then his head disappeared under her skirt. She felt fingers dance along the elastic edges of her panties. He pressed his mouth against her underwear and blew hard, like he was trying to coax a flame out of kindling. Heat radiated out from the spot through her whole body.
“Neat trick,” she whispered.
“I’ve got a few.” She felt him smile against her thighs.
The crew at Boston’s Brazen Head Pub hasn’t been very lucky in love. Can a mysterious visitor inspire them to look past old hurts and misconceptions and give romance a chance? One Lucky Night is a collection of five sexy interwoven novelettes by Aria Kane, Grace Teague, Ana Blaze, Constance Phillips, and Melinda Dozier.
Lucky Break by Aria Kane
Four years ago, chef Derek Chase walked out of Andrea Rivera’s life after a tragedy neither of them were prepared to deal with. When she’s called to the Brazen Head to repair a dishwasher, old sparks ignite buried feelings.
Lucky Star by Grace Teague
When her life is threatened by a mugger, Charlotte Price realizes she’s in love with her best friend, Tommy Leung. The Brazen Head seems like the perfect neutral place to confess her feelings, but nothing goes according to plan.
A New Tune by Ana Blaze
When it comes to dating, Holly Hall has one unbreakable rule: no musicians. Not even gorgeous ones. Especially not gorgeous ones. Dating them only leads to heartbreak. So why did she let singer-songwriter Cian O’Neill kiss her? And why is she thinking about doing it again?
Lexi’s Chance by Constance Phillips
As a bartender, Sean Whelan meets all kinds of women every night, but none turn his head the way that Lexi has. She’s been playing cat and mouse with him for weeks. Tonight, Sean’s determined to get Lexi to quit teasing and take a real chance on him.
Drink or Dare by Melinda Dozier
A bachelorette party Drink or Dare game pairs paramedic students, Rachel Robertson and Killian Whelan, in a flirting match. Soon, the dares threaten to turn their academic rivalry into something much more.
