Where do authors find good material? Sometimes inspiration comes in the form of television. To be honest, I watch very little of it. I do own a TV but I don’t even have an antenna. The last time it was turned on was….. well I don’t even remember. It was a long time ago. But I do have friends with TV’s…..
I just got back from watching Game of Thrones and Penny Dreadful with a couple of local horror fanatics. Thankfully they both understand the writerly mind and don’t take offense when I shout out the lines the characters are about to say! More so on Penny Dreadful than on Game of Thrones although it’s hard not to correctly guess the weight of the creature on top of it from the groaning of the roof. That’s all I’m going to say!
Of course, watching TV at other people’s houses is a bit like an adventure. When Vanessa Ives made a particularly stunning connection at one point in the show, I shouted: “Ding ding ding ding ding!” This is the response I received:
Pretty bloody frightening don’t you think? Scarier than the show, that’s for sure!
In other news, I have a new pretty to show you. It’s Pasha approved 🙂
YES there ARE several shifter stories in this volume and YES we also have GLBT stories, written by authors who DO NOT support crimes against GLBT people of any kind. Just thought I’d mention that. It’s been a crazy day.
More later, and can’t wait for the season finale next Sunday of Penny Dreadful! (Sigh, can the Game of Thrones finale be far behind?)
Please welcome Dena to the blog today!

Wildlife biologist, Isabelle Acker, meets sexy park ranger, Wyatt Powell. His Wolf sits up and takes notice of her, but when he learns why she came to the park, he becomes wary of her intentions. After all, as far as the general population knows, there are no wolves in the Black Hills.
Ordered by his Alpha to keep an eye on the smoking-hot biologist, Wyatt finds it difficult to keep his hands to himself. He wants to possess her, to share everything about his life, but that might endanger the Tao Pack. But the attraction proves too great and, unable to deny his Wolf, he takes her with a passion he didn’t know he possessed.
However, their sexual bliss is short-lived, and on the night of the full moon, more than one secret is revealed. When all is said and done, they must each decide—is what they have between them true love or just hot sex?

From the shadows of the surrounding foliage, Wyatt Powell watched the slip of a woman move about her campsite with ease. The business card she had left with the girls at the ranger office read, Dr. Isabelle Acker, Wildlife Biologist. It seemed, she was used to camping outdoors.
But even if she had been camping for over five years, it was damn foolish of her to be out here alone.
Normally, he wouldn’t have paid much attention, but when he’d overheard the girls saying she was well known for her study of wolves, he’d been compelled to investigate.
Everyone knew there were no wolves in the Black Hills.
For generations, his pack had cultivated that belief. And in truth, there were no wolves. At least not what one would call a “normal” wolf. Wolf shifters were a whole other matter.
So, what brought Dr. Acker here?
She’d set up her camp in a secluded spot, well away from the established sites. Perhaps she wanted privacy. But for what?
The longer he watched, the more fascinated he became by her. It wasn’t because she seemed at ease in the outdoors. Nor was it just a physical attraction. Sure, she was pretty for a human but not in a remarkable way. She was an average height with an athlete’s build. Her plain brown hair had been pulled into a simple ponytail, but it did glitter a bit when she stepped into patches of sunlight.
Yet something about her had captured his interest. Both man and beast wanted to learn more.
He was about to retreat into the woods when he saw her gather a towel and a few bathing items and head to the nearby stream. His conscience argued he should leave and allow her some privacy, but the bulge behind his zipper insisted on following her. Part of him wanted to know how much of a nature lover she was.
Like a deer, she picked her way over the rocks until she found a spot next to the river. Before sitting, she slowly turned her head in both directions scanning the area.
Wyatt had been taught by his Sioux grandfather the value of patience when tracking prey. Or a foe. Despite his base attraction, he had yet to determine which she might be.

I’m celebrating the release of Your Wild Heart by giving away stuff! Between April 10-13 you can get into the drawings by following this link to Rafflecopter:
Today is release day for A Demon’s Gift! Some of you may have already read the story as it was part of the Hot Holiday Treats boxed set. Don’t let that deter you though. This version has expanded scenes and an extended ending.
A Demon’s Gift is an erotic paranormal romance with a little Christmas flair. It features a fun cast of characters including: a cocky sex demon, a tough female demon hunter in training, and others. Check out the blurb and excerpt below and if it sounds good to you, I hope you’ll give it a read.
I have five FREE copies available to anyone who will read and guarantee a review by the end of April. If interested, email me at jocelyndex @ gmail. com
Cordelia is a demon hunter in training. Passing her final test will allow her the freedom to celebrate her first Christmas, but one demon stands in her way. As much as she tries to fight it, to convince herself he repulses her, her body comes alive, betraying her, each time he’s near.
Argoth, a sex demon, is locked in a cell, used as a punching bag for the demon hunter trainees. The only thing he looks forward to is his training sessions with Cordelia. The first time her fist connects with his face, he knows she’s different and that he has to have her, to save her, to make her his.
When Argoth’s truth turns Cordelia’s world upside down, will she give in to her desires or run for her life?
A throaty, sexy chuckle reached her ears. Her skin instantly heated, prickled. Damn it. The cells were soundproof, but somehow the guards or Bix always managed to leave his intercom on when she was in the room. She whipped around and glared at him through the thick glass enclosure which served as his prison. “Shut up, demon.”
His lips turned down in an exaggerated frown. “I couldn’t help myself. Your childish gesture amused me. And how many times do I have to ask you to call me by my name? Say it with me—Argoth.”
It was his fault. The reason she had to keep proving her fighting skills, the reason she hadn’t made certification, the reason she was stuck down there every damn day. She’d learned to somewhat resist the manipulation of several of the others she’d been pitted against but not his. Amused him, did she? Well, let him be amused. He might be her weakness, but she knew his weakness too.
She sauntered over to his cell and slowly pulled her sweaty tank top over her head, exposing her fight-toned stomach. His eyes darkened as they travelled slowly up and down her body before finally settling on her breasts that were clad in only a thin sports bra.
He was a sex demon and had been denied all but self-release since being captured and locked up three months earlier. Denying a sex demon sex was like denying a crack addict crack—except the sex was actually good for the demon.
Her gaze dropped to his crotch and she gulped at the unmistakable bulge there. That damn sexy chuckle floated through the intercom again.
“Don’t play games you can’t control, Delia.”
“I’m in perfect control. You’re the one locked up. And don’t call me that.”
“Yes, I can see your perfect control. I’m certain it could cut through this glass and free me. Think of what we could do if you freed me…Delia.”
She followed his gaze to her chest where her painfully hard nipples peeked through the fabric of the sports bra. His voice dulled her good sense and images of what they could do floated through her mind before she regained control and snapped out of it. Goddamn it.
“Whatever. At least I get to go home, shower and find a lover.” She pressed her breasts against the glass, lowering her voice to a sultry whisper. “When he’s deep inside me, fucking me to ecstasy, I’ll think of you.” She blew him a kiss. He growled, real anger contorting his handsome face. “Oh wait. No I won’t.” She flicked his intercom off and flipped him the finger before leaving the room.

Woot woot! I have a new release coming out February 9th. It’s an erotic paranormal romance with a fun cast of characters including: demons, a siren, a dog, a witch and others. Check out the blurb and excerpt below and if it sounds good to you, you can pre-order it here:
Title: Demon’s Bounty * Series: Hunting Hell
Tanner, a Venato demon who isn’t known for his social skills, hunts and kills rogue demons for The Network—a demon-run, demon hunting organization. While staking out a bar, he spots the hot-as-hell, golden-haired goddess. His body and mind instantly crave her like they’ve never craved another, but being all business, he resolves to finish the job first and take care of the searing lust later.
Lydie, a siren with less-than-stellar supernatural abilities, is looking for new purpose in life. She’s on her initiation assignment for The Network. When she spots the sexy, scowling patron across the bar, she burns for him and vows to sample his wares as soon as she secures her first bounty.
When Lydie undermines Tanner’s job, Tanner’s anger temporarily outweighs his need to consume her. But when he confronts her, sparks fly and passions soar out of control.
“Nice place,” he said as he accepted her offer to sit.
“Thanks.” She treated him to a dazzling smile that formed a lump in his throat. The urge to reach out and touch her golden hair and lick her pink lips deluged him. “Can I get you anything?”
Had he imagined the suggestiveness in her tone? Probably. As much as he wanted her, he was probably projecting his wants onto her. He cleared his throat and tried to keep from ogling her. “No thanks. The man you left with tonight, I need to know where you dropped him off.”
She leaned in a little closer, giving him a better view of her ample cleavage. “Hmm. Are you sure you wouldn’t like a drink?”
He needed to keep his cool, remain in character, but her nearness was driving him nuts. He couldn’t remember the last time a female had affected him so profoundly. She exuded an energy, a vibe, that made him want things he didn’t have a name for. “I’m sure. The man?”
“He isn’t a problem. Forget him.” She reached out and gave his thigh a little squeeze as if to accentuate her words.
His dick instantly hardened, and his thoughts muddied. What were they talking about? Rubbing his temples, he strained to remember. Oh yeah. The demon. His bounty for killing the demon. “Mi—Lydie,” he corrected, “it’s important you give me his location. He’s dangerous. You’re lucky you weren’t hurt.”
That magical laugh drifted through his mind again, compelling him, mellowing him. “He didn’t seem all that dangerous to me. And see”—she stood, did a twirl, and sat back down next to him, closer than before—“I’m all in one piece.”
Yeah, one exquisite piece she was. “You got lucky. Now where did you take him?”
“You have sexy eyes…officer.” She leaned forward as if to get a better look. “I’ve always preferred dark eyes on a male, and yours are the darkest I’ve ever seen.”
With her face so close to his, her sweet breath caressing his cheek, he barely fought back the desire to kiss her, ravage her. She affected him like no other. Her essence pulled at him, drew him in, but he had to fight it, just a little longer. When he got the information from her, he’d make quick work of killing the demon and delivering the body to D, and then he’d be back here to put out the fire that was obviously burning between them. “Thanks,” he choked out. “About the man…”
“There’s no man but you, here, right now,” she said. Her voice raised an octave, the most melodic sound he’d ever heard, the trickling lull of the wall fountain a perfect backdrop to the melody.
Brain feeling fuzzy, dick hardened to granite, he again fought to remember why he was there. “You, uh…” He couldn’t remember. All he knew, in this moment, was that a goddess sat next to him, and if he didn’t touch her soon, he’d die.
Thanks for stopping by and reading!
Pre-oder Demon’s Bounty:
I’m having a blast writing it, and I wanted to share the first scene with you.
Here goes, and happy Sunday!
“—the fuck?” Grayon turned sharply to his right, and winced when his vision blurred. “Bron, you here? What happened?”
His brother gave no response, and Grayon searched his muddled brain for a thread of logic. The darkness around him held no threat—not that he ever felt threatened—but it was unfamiliar. Where was he? He sniffed the air, and let his wolf near the surface. The beast growled, always ready to take over, but Grayon suppressed it. He needed to use its senses, not give it free roam.
Pine and grass, and something dirty. Murky. Was it smoke?
A fire in The Forest? Why weren’t the were-crows spreading the word?
No fire. What invaded his senses was darker than that, and oily.
He looked around again, this time careful to avoid sudden movement. He was in the woods, but not The Forest. The canopy of trees hid the stars above, yet the call of the moon was different.
“Shit, not another dog. Are you starting a colony?” The husky female voice came from straight ahead, just a few feet away, but he all he could make out was a dark shape. To see better in the dark, he had to give the wolf more leeway, and that wouldn’t do until he’d assessed his situation.
He could still smell her, though, and he knew this scent. Kind of. Beneath a light fruity aroma, tang of magic was free from any animal scent. This could only mean one thing.
He was on the Earth plane.
The realization opened the floodgates for memories to come pouring in. He and Bron talking. About Candia. About how Bron loved her, and she returned his feelings. But she’d been promised to Grayon since birth.
Grayon’s head throbbed. His heart hurt. His body ached with the effort to keep the wolf down.
Chivalry had gotten him ousted. To Earth.
Where fucking vampires roamed.
Right on cue, the one in front of him took a step closer. Grayon jumped to his feet. The only vampires he knew had fought on his side, their kinds now allies. That had been back in his own plane, though. For all he knew, this bloodsucker was out for his blood.
“Chill out, pooch. I mean you no harm.” Her giggle grated his nerves.
“I’m not a dog, and I doubt you could hurt me, deadgirl.” He hunched his shoulders, lowering his body mass and preparing for a fight, if that was she sought.
He relaxed when she came close enough for him to actually see her. She barely came up to his shoulder, and had to weigh less than a were-fox in animal form.
His smirk was still forming on his lips, when she swept his legs from under him, and landed him on his ass. His head thunked on a tree root. “Ow!”
The vampire came to stand next to him. “See? I can totally hurt you.” She was even shorter than he’d thought, balancing her weight effortlessly on chunky six-inch heels. Tight black leather stretched over her generous curves, and the tips of her jet black hair were bright blue.
“What? You got a concussion now?” She nudged him with the toe of her lace-up boot.
Grayon growled, rolled to the side, and was back on his feet in no time, glad his head and sight were now clear. “Next time I’ll be ready, bloodsucker.”
It seemed as good a line as any for him to make his exit on. He made a show of turning his back to her, and hoped she couldn’t tell he had no clue where he was going. At least he had a plan. Once he’d put some distance between himself and the annoying female, he’d try to figure out exactly where the witch’s spell had landed him. He was pretty sure it’d be a terrible place. After all, the witch followed Xenon’s instructions, and Grayson wasn’t one of the pack leader’s favorite people these days.
“Like you know where you’re going.” The vampire’s voice came from ahead of him, and Grayon cursed under his breath. “I heard that,” the vampire said.
“Good. Now hear this too. Get the fuck away, or I’ll rip your head off.”
By the time he realized she was rushing him, he was on his ass again.
“You weren’t ready this time either,” she said, crossing her arms and looking down at him.
He stood and dusted the seat of his pants. “What the fuck?”
“You say that a lot.”
Okay, that was it! He called the wolf just enough for his night-vision to kick in. Didn’t hurt that he knew it made his eyes look big and yellow. Scary-fucking-eyes, Rex called them. Maybe they’d scare this vamp too.
Don’t you just wanna read more? I know I wanna keep writing. Woot!
Now that the Hot Holidays Treats anthology has hit the virtual shelves, I thought I’d bring you more about my characters, starting with Pete aka Roshan the Yeti. Here’s the blurb about the story:
An ambitious reporter is determined to prove to the world Yetis exist, even at the cost of her life. But when she’s confronted with the truth, will she choose fame and fortune or keep the secret and the man she desires all to herself?
Today, we’ll see if Mr. Yeti will give us any more details about his lifestyle and past. He’s a pretty secretive type of guy, so wish me luck!!
Eva: Hey sexy, how’s it going?
Pete: *squirms in his chair* Um… okay.
Eva: You’re not used to women calling you sexy? Come on.
Pete: Well… I do live in a remote mountain area. It’s not like I get a lot of female visitors.
Eva: But you have one now, a very special one. Kaylee.
Pete: *inhales deeply and relaxes* She’s great.
Eva: Have you taught her all the Yeti secrets? Shown her your ways? Besides the sexy mating ones of course.
Pete: *cheeks turn a reddish shade* I’m working on it.
Eva: Oh you don’t have to hide any of that horny Yeti lovin’ from me. I wrote that scene, remember? Anyway, I wanted to ask you about your hair. The Yeti hair. Is it really as soft and silky as Kaylee claims?
Pete: *shrugs* I guess so.
Eva: Do you have to condition it? How do Yetis get haircuts?
Pete: *frowns* These are not things Yetis do.
Eva: So, personal grooming is more of an afterthought? What about that long ribbed cock of yours? How did that develop? Does the exterior keep it warmer on your rescue missions?
Pete: *blinks* It’s not like I have a hard-on when I’m bounding through ice and snow. Geez.
Eva: Yeah, you save that all for Kaylee.
Pete: *eyes go distant for a second*
Eva: Hey, Pete, you still with me?
Pete: Yeah, um… just thinking about Kaylee.
Eva: Does she, uh, let you take her in your Yeti form? Like, from behind often and repeatedly?
Pete: *coughs* Our ways are not for the ears of humans.
Eva: You suck as an interview, Yeti. You really ought to be more forthcoming with your author!
Eva: Go back and finish your 30-day mating cycle. I’ll call Kaylee when it’s over. She’ll give me the goods.
Eva: Yeah, like that. Toodles!
